Jakaya M. Kikwete was sworn in as the newly elected President of Tanzanian President in Dar es Salaam on December 21, 2005. Earlier in December as part of his election campaign, he travelled to Makete District, met with members of PIUMA and called for implementation of similar community-support groups in other regions.
